Deborah New Moon Rising
Ken Quiet Hawk and Deborah New Moon Rising
were married in 1966; they are parents, grandparents and great grand
parents. They are both
of Abenaki descent and reside in a small town in
New
Hampshire.
Quiet Hawk is an accomplished flute maker and
photographer; New Moon Rising is an award-winning artist and
together they are popular storytellers on the Pow Wow circuit. They have performed at pow
wows, concerts and schools throughout New England, as well as at pow wows in
Virginia, Tennessee and Florida. Both Quiet Hawk and New Moon Rising believe
that storytelling should be more than just
entertainment.
“Storytelling should be a means of teaching,
teaching us how to be a better person.”
Both Quiet Hawk and New Moon Rising have spent
a lifetime searching and researching stories that portray the true
heart of the Native peoples, and only those stories that are
suitable for children. (Children of all ages.)
